Retired U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Chief Inspector Rudy Friederich has "been there/done that" when it comes to enhancing the force and facilities protection posture of government security agencies in high-risk, guerrilla/insurgent infested environments.
In 2003 his planning and execution of the Plan Colombia Judicial Security Enhancement Mission, utilizing an elite team of USMS personnel to conduct vulnerability assessments and protective services training, received the following major awards:

- U.S. Marshals Service Director's Special Achievement Award
- National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) team award
From November 2008 - November 2009 Friederich was the primary operator involved in conducting vulnerability assessments and structuring training initiatives for judicial branch security forces in Iraq.
In September 2005, prior to his Iraq security consulting mission, Friederich assisted in the planning and execution of a middle of the night police narcotics raid in a South African township.
